Cecil Walker

CecilWalkerCecil Walker is a recent graduate of Emory University majoring in Psychology and Music. Cecil is excited about the opportunity to work with Play More Music students and will bring patience, kindness, and friendliness to each lesson.

He has studied piano since the age of 6, most of which time he spent studying at a music school in Buford, Ga. Recently, he has won challenging regional competitions earning him scholarships and awards for his expert performances. He spent the summer of 2010 studying piano with Dr. Richard Zimdars, the Despy Karlas at the University of Georgia. Currently, he is finishing his music degree under Dr. William Ransom, director of piano studies at Emory. In addition, he plays in the Emory Tango Ensemble and sings in Emory’s Concert Choir and Mastersingers. He’s also a member Emory’s all-male a cappella group, No Strings Attached, with whom he performs popular vocal hits both at local events and internationally.

As a musician, he’s enjoyed unforgettable musical experiences such as being invited to sing at Emory University’s president’s home, performing at the U.S. Embassy in Panama, and even sharing the stage as a background vocalist with the legendary Rolling Stones! In his remaining spare time, Cecil enjoys volunteer work, creating a cappella arrangements of popular tunes, recording short covers of his favorite songs, and of course, just playing piano for fun.
