Tim Puckett

Tim PuckettTim Puckett began piano studies at age 8, then moved to flute and eventually to saxophone at 16. After classical, concert and marching band performance in high school he studied jazz privately in New York, then went on to more jazz studies at the University of Tennessee.

Tim began playing in concerts, clubs, and recording studios throughout the L.A/Hollywood area, then joined a well-know Canadian pop group. When he moved to Atlanta, he formed a rock group, playing everything from Steely Dan to the Beatles and Eagles and his own original compositions. For the past 26 years he has lived in Paris, France where he formed a jazz band that toured all over Europe. He also taught music privately.

Now back in Atlanta, he has another jazz group with trumpet, bass, drums and himself on saxes, flute, guitar and vocals.  He is also working on a one-man-band playing guitar, harmonica and singing, and with the aid of a device called a looper, records what he has played on guitar, allowing him to play sax or flute over top of that. What a great piece of music technology!

Tim works to make his lessons fun and interesting, doing his best to concentrate on the music that the student really loves. He is happy to teach jazz, blues, swing, bossa nova, reggae, rock, pop, country, and gospel as well as composition of students’ original songs.

“After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.” Aldous Huxley
