Brandon K Smith (b. 1994) is an Atlanta based composer, arranger, and songwriter currently studying for his master’s degree at the Georgia State University School of Music. In April 2020, he received first place in the musical composition category of the Georgia State Undergraduate Conference, for a presentation and composition dedicated to mathematical techniques in traditional flamenco music. In November 2019, He was commissioned to write a choral/orchestral composition for Coro Vocati, a professional choir based in Atlanta. The piece “Starry Night” was premiered February 2020 and was also featured on NPR “City Lights”. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Georgia State Chapter of the Society of Composers.
Brandon is also an avid performer, teacher, and conductor in the Atlanta area. Teaching credits include piano and voice lessons at Bach to Rock Music School, Community Music Center, Play More Music LLC, and private composition and music theory lessons. His teaching style is based on teaching fundamental skills that a student can use learning any piece, and giving a student a healthy amount of performance opportunities and exposure to different genres.
